Juniors

Petersfield has a thriving junior golf section of upwards of 60 members catering for boys and girls from the ages of 8 to 18 years. The requirements and recommendations of the  ‘Children in Golf’ national guidelines are rigorously followed to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience. Boys and Girls can refer to a ‘Welfare Officer’ in the unlikely event of an issue arising.

The section uses both the main course and for younger players the academy course which is located close by and has a specifically designed training area for young people.


Junior Golf at Petersfield is run under the guidance of  a dedicated volunteer Organiser experienced in all golf aspects  aided by a small group of helpers.  The section elects their own Captain, Vice Captain, and Girls Captain who, together with three other juniors take an active part in the decision making process with the Junior Organiser.

Regular coaching sessions are held by one of our qualified PGA professionals and during the summer holidays free sessions are held for non-member juniors of all ages as an introduction and taster to golf.

A Junior Policy Document is lodged with the club which sets out the aims and objectives of our junior golf, which in principle commits us to the encouragement of golf at all ages and abilities. Over the years this has produced many young people able to play to a reasonable standard and a few who have reached County team/professional levels.

During the year many competition days are held at which those juniors less interested in playing competitive golf are also welcomed and participate for fun.

The Club also plays in a County League on a home and away basis against other Hampshire Clubs and provides refreshments afterwards to facilitate socialising with juniors from other clubs.
